The Wonder Years

By Marguerite the Little Flower

This is a story about my childhood years--I was only about two but since early childhood I had a terrific memory. I know because my sister is about 3 l/2 yrs younger and she had not apeared on the scene yet.

THE WONDER YEARS

Childhood is a time of innocence, curosity, anticipation and wonder.

As I sit down to write about my early childhood, I recall many things that were humorous; I do not recall the exact age I was but I think I was about two,for my sister had not appeared on the scene yet. Our parents took us by train to Galveston Beach. I remember going up steps to a platform with my mother. This was built over the water and there were dressing rooms and lockers where you could leave your clothes after you put on your bathing suit. My two brothers went with my father to another part of the platform for the same purpose..

My mother and I put on our bathing suits, hung our clothes on a nail, locked the door and then my mother pinned the key to her suit. Then I said to my mother, "I need to use the bathroom" Mother looked around and not seeing one said go in that little crack in the floor. So, I did and later on while looking down, I saw a man looking up in great wonder.

This is a story that will never make history, but I remembered it a long time: I wonder if he did.
